Amalia Fleming

Good Medicine Presents: AMALIA FLEMING live at Club Car Bar!

7pm - All Ages - $5 Cover

Full bar and food menu will be available for purchase

Amalia Fleming’s honey-covered vocal tone and sweet melodies lure us in, but then something even more powerful begins to emerge as each well-crafted lyric unfolds. The vulnerability, charm, and beauty of her persona surrender to a quiet defiance and confidence as she reflects on love and heartbreak, angst and optimism, and the precarious state of our world. She gathers all these elements into her songs and uses them as fuel for her creativity. Certainly, she uses her music as emotional catharsis for herself and her audience, but there is a hint of possibility that her true love is not the emotional experience of the moment but rather the transforming of it into music itself.”

“Elliott Callaway is a songwriter, guitarist, and singer from Birmingham, AL who currently resides in Los Angeles, CA.  Elliott's music blends elements of folk, rock, country, Americana, and more. He began playing music in his teenage years, and started his first band in college at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, AL.  After a brief stint in Birmingham upon finishing his degree, Elliott made his way out west to Las Vegas, NV, eventually ending up in Southern California.

His original music is heavily influenced by the finger-style guitar playing and songwriting of James Taylor, Townes van Zandt, Jerry Reed, Paul Simon, and more.  He recently released his debut album, Hank, with the help of his producer, Tim Hall.  It can be found on all streaming services. He has performed either solo or as a member of a band at a number of venues throughout Southern California such as the Hotel Cafe, Sasafrass Saloon, The Venice West, Dreamland, Maui Sugar Mill, The Cinema Bar, The Slip Bar,  the Auld Fella, the Ojai Valley Vineyard, Brick Barn Wine Estate, Insitution Ale House, 14 Cannons Brewery, and many more.  In November of 2023, his band played to a sold out crowd at Dreamland in Malibu.

He was recently a featured artist at the Composer's Breakfast Club hosted by Richard Gibbs at Dreamland in Malibu, CA and shared the stage with the incredible Gregg Bissonette (drummer for Ringo Starr's All Star Band) and Richard Gibbs (Oingo Boingo)  while playing guitar for a couple of songs written by John Cate. Elliott has also  played guitar for a local hip/hop producer and fellow Alabama native, Robby Hale.  The two recently produced a track for Rylo Rodriguez called "Set Me Free".  The track has garnered over 3.5 million streams on Spotify and over 21 million views on YouTube, peaking at #12 on YouTube's trending music.

In addition to his original music ventures, Elliott offers solo acoustic performances, or full band performances for all types of events (i.e.  rehearsal dinners, weddings, corporate engagements, etc.).  His sets offer a wide array of music from country and folk to classic rock standards by artists such as Hank Williams, Emmylou Harris, Tom Petty, Paul Simon, James Taylor and more.  He can also incorporate fingerstyle jazz standards and old finger picking classics into his sets. Elliott is also a music teacher in Los Angeles, and offers private guitar lessons for all levels, songwriting lessons and basic music theory lessons.”

Reverend Beat Man

Numbskull Productions + Good Medicine Present: REVEREND BEAT MAN live at Club Car Bar!

7pm - All Ages - Tickets available now at the link below

Full bar and food menu will be available for purchase

Reverend Beat-Man is a Swiss musician, DJ and record company owner. He performs as a one-man band, as the leader of psychobilly band The Monsters, and with other bands, in a style described as primitive rock and roll and as "gospel blues trash". He is also the founder and head of Voodoo Rhythm Records, a company based in Bern, Switzerland.”

“For some, rock'n'roll is a pastime, while for others it is a lifestyle. But for Swiss singer/songwriter and one-man band act Reverend Beat-Man it is nothing short of a religion.

With one foot planted firmly on each side of the line which separates heaven from hell, the saved from the damned, and the saints from the sinners, Reverend Beat-Man baptizes obscure music seekers in a river of sound wholly unique to him, offering his many listeners a sacrament of primitive rock'n'roll, gospel trash, surreal folk, and wild blues. To be sure, this scary-eyed fire and brimstone preacher of the Rock'n'Roll Word plays fiery rock guitar, works the drum kit with very capable feet, and pushes out gravelly vocals that sound almost like a combination of Depression-era bluesman Blind Willie Johnson and the singer/guitarist for the dark roots duo Those Poor Bastards, Lonesome Wyatt. The Reverend's mission as a primitive rock and blues trash evangelist, it seems, is to show us the hell in his demented heart in order to bring us all to the light. I mean, with songs like Jesus Christ Twist, I've Got the Devil Inside, Come Back Lord, Save My Soul From Hell, Back in Hell, The Lord is Coming Back, Oh Lord!, and Fuck You Jesus Fuck You Oh Lord, how can we not assume as much?

It is evident that Reverend Beat-Man's sound has captured the collective ear of the rock'n'roll underground, especially among one-man band enthusiasts. In addition to extensive touring and being featured on several compilations, the Reverend has released one album, "Apartment Wrestling Rock'n'Roll," under his original moniker Lightning Beat-Man. After that, he went on to release two albums under the Reverend Beat-Man name, "Surreal Folk Blues Gospel Trash, Volumes I & II," and then a third titled "Get On Your Knees." Later, he went on to release an experimental album, "Your Favorite Position Is On Your Knees," alongside the Swiss industrial analog electro group Herpes-o-Deluxe under the moniker Reverend Beat-Man & The Church of Herpes. This last recording was received with mixed opinions by fans and press alike. The Reverend's faithful flock, most of them no doubt expecting more of the same, were thrown for a loop, as it were, and felt altogether removed from the highly processed sound and artificiality of it all. Of course, the Reverend Beat-Man & The Church of Herpes endeavor was not met with any apostasy...so far as I know, that is...and those in the loyal congregation of Reverend Beat-Man's Church of Rock'n'Roll remain as such.”

Good Medicine Presents: POI ROGERS live at Club Car Bar!

7pm - All Ages - Free Show

Full bar + food menu will be available for purchase

“… last week I spent Thursday night at The Side Door watching the duet Poi Rogers from Santa Cruz. This talented couple provided a sundown infused with their rare mix of cowboy campfire rhythms and blazing tiki bar tenderness. The audience absolutely loved it.” - Scott Thomas Anderson, Sacramento News & Review

“Carolyn Sills holds the low end steady and unfazed, and beautifully unhurried - like someone who’s played these tunes in a dream before. Gerard Egan shifts between six-string and steel with a tone that lingers more than it leads. They’re a married duo, and you can hear it -they leave space in the arrangements, never crowding each other. And in that space, you can tell: this isn’t performance. It’s presence.” - Meghan ‘Mae’ McCoy, Western Swing Society

“Sills' songs, written and produced with Gerard Egan, are an homage to jukebox Americana—tasty twang reminiscent of Merle Travis and Patsy Cline." - Monterey County NOW

shawn clark family band

Good Medicine Presents: THE SHAWN CLARK FAMILY BAND live at Club Car Bar!

7:30pm - All Ages - $10 Cover

Full bar and food menu will be available for purchase onsite

With adventure in our eyes and Fort Worth in the distance / I put that pedal down, trying to avoid the rearview mirror / but these strings on our hearts are growing thinner every mile.”  -from "Fort Worth, TX"

“Shawn Clark writes music from the heartland. Attend a Shawn Clark Family Band show and you’ll hear a Hank Williams, Sr. tune or an obscure Marty Robbins song. Primarily, you’ll hear Shawn Clark’s original tunes, delivered in his confident baritone.

Inspired when hearing Townes Van Zandt’s version of the Rolling Stones’ “Dead Flowers” while watching the film, The Big Lebowski, Shawn Clark thought, “I want to write music that sounds like that.”  Two years later, he has two albums, a fine group of fellow musicians making up the “Shawn Clark Family Band” and his sights set on bringing this old-style country music to a wider audience.

With his ever growing collection of original songs, like: “Foot Taps on Hardwood Floors,” “The Needle is a Skippin” and “Wasn’t Lookin for Love,” Shawn Clark explores the hopefulness of new love, the loneliness of lost love, and the conflict of falling in love fast, when you had no intention of racking up another broken heart.

A Texas native, Shawn Clark now calls central California home. The Shawn Clark Family Band can be found playing throughout San Luis Obispo County, drawing the attention of music promoters throughout the state and receiving radio airplay as far away as Europe.”

J & The Causeways

Good Medicine + Numbskulls Productions Present: J & THE CAUSEWAYS live at Club Car Bar!

7pm - All Ages - Tickets available now at the link below

Full bar and food menu will be available for purchase

“In a modern world seemingly gone mad, one of distraction and white noise, what emerges from J & Causeways’ debut album, Motions, is this universal theme of togetherness and compassion — melodies conjured and cultivated with a keen understanding of reaching one another through healing and transcendence. “This album is about getting the listener to tap into their own inner power and inner beauty,” says Jordan Anderson. “Stop searching outward for those answers. Start searching inward. And then, maybe we can raise ourselves up and out of our sadness and problems.”

Lead singer/keyboardist of New Orleans soul/R&B powerhouse ensemble J & The Causeways, Anderson has remained a magnetic presence in the city’s vast, storied live music scene for the better part of the last decade. “It’s that breath of fresh air that is New Orleans,” the 34-year-old notes. “There are no bounds for music, food, art, people and culture — everything is enriched here.”

A Louisiana native, Anderson was raised in a rural community, one where music was a welcomed constant, whether it be listening and absorbing the sounds of his family members playing and singing or simply diving down the rabbit hole of a nearby record collection — Aretha Franklin, Al Green, and Otis Redding all within reach. Captured by famed musicians/producers Robert Mercurio and Ben Ellman (both members of NOLA cosmic funk outfit Galactic) at Studio in the Country and Esplanade Studios, Motions is a record soaked in the freewheelin’ ethos, culture, and sonic tones of a vibrant city that Anderson proudly calls home.

“I’d be lying if I said I didn’t feel like this album was some sort of creative burst,” Anderson says. “There were no compromises made on this. This is absolutely the closest version of who I really am that I’ve been trying to record and put out.” Closing in on eight years together, J & The Causeways have come a long way from those early days trying to secure footing, not only in their sound and purpose, but also that of Anderson exploring and discovering his voice and identity as a rising artist in an often hard-to-navigate music industry filled with seemingly endless unknowns.

“At first, it was so stressful, because you’re finding your sound and you’re gritting it out, trying to find something that is you,” Anderson recalls. “But now, when we got into the [recording] process and started putting these songs on record, I can’t believe what I was hearing back — it was what I wanted and more.” Diving into the melodic depths of J & The Causeways, one is immediately struck by the staggering vocal talents of Anderson, this soaring voice radiating from the stage — a level of octave prowess and sonic range akin to that of other renowned soul acts like Alabama Shakes or St. Paul & The Broken Bones.

“It’s that vulnerability of going around your house and being real goofy with your voice,” Anderson says of finding his towering, soulful tone. “And that really does factor into learning how to get a boastful and unique voice, by being vulnerable and trying things — finding the value of looking inside yourself.” Whether onstage or in the studio, Anderson aims to be a conduit into that universal energy of self. It’s this sacred, ancient space by which a human being is able to channel the essence of the magical ether surrounding all of us at any given time.

“A lot of people call it God, others call it a muse, but [whatever it is], it’s something in there that’s divine and uplifting,” Anderson says. “And when you can tap into that calm, meditative state and listen, you can truly sing how you want to sing.” At the core of Motions is the concept of cymatics, which are the visual representations created by sound vibrations. Leading up to the recording sessions, Anderson became utterly fascinated with how visible patterns were formed by specific frequencies and tones.

“I was in that mind frame of how everything can be connected through an energetic field, and not seem so material,” Anderson says. “At any point, and at any time in your life, you have the power to change those vibrations with your decisions and the vibes you put out into the world.” Anderson also is a keen observer and longtime subscriber to the idea of “the now,” where one is always aware and present in any moment you may be currently inhabiting or participating in.

“There’s no other true time. The past and the future? It’s all just made up,” Anderson mulls. “All we have are these moments that we’re having right now. This album is about vibrations and helping people put their own energies out into the world.”

Good Medicine Presents: MICHAEL PETERS & THE MONSTERS w/ SHAWN CLARK and ARCHER MOZÉ

Michael Peters & The Monsters bring a dark and haunting sound straight from the heart of Bakersfield. Their music blends country, western, blues & even grunge. Drawing inspiration from artists like Alice in Chains, Merle Haggard, and Johnny Cash. With raw vocals and deep storytelling, their songs hit with the weight of hard-lived experience. Formed in 2023, the band delivers a stripped-down but powerful sound. A brooding upright bassist lays the foundation, while a guitarist plays with melodic precision. Every performance is a dive into something raw and real.

"Starcrawler are a rock band for a new generation. Best known for their explosive live shows, the 5-piece band consists of full-throttle frontwoman Arrow De Wilde, guitarist Henri Cash and brother Bill Cash on pedal steel/guitar, drummer Seth Carolina, and bassist Tim Franco.

With two studio albums under their belts, their upward trajectory continues to roll full steam ahead in 2022 with the release of their brand-new single, “Roadkill.” Fully leaning into their own epic vision of a contemporary Hollywood Babylon, they’ve morphed into a modern day take on LA legends X, with a sprinkle of The Go-Go’s, a smattering of The Distillers and some Rolling Stones sleaze thrown in for good measure.

Since their early days, Starcrawler have won the love of such legendary artists as Shirley Manson, Elton John, Iggy Pop, Jack White, Dave Grohl, and more all while opening for the likes of Jack White and My Chemical Romance, and previous support slots with luminaries such as Beck, Foo Fighters and Spoon among others. Kimmi Bitter

Good Medicine Presents: KIMMI BITTER live at Club Car Bar!

7pm - All Ages - $5 Cover

Full bar and food menu will be available for purchase

“ Imagine the sun-soaked charm of Palm Springs circa ‘62 mixed with a dash of California coastal weirdness in a mod-inspired dreamscape. Kimmi Bitter is a paradox that echoes the traditions of classic country, yet feels like it’s breaking all the rules at once.  A rising force in the underground Americana scene she's mixing the old school with the new cool by capturing the attention of music fans and critics alike.

That boundary-pushing spirit came alive in her debut album Old School, which dropped in 2024 and came out swinging. It landed solidly on the Top 25 Americana Album Radio Chart and racked up a jaw-dropping eight nominations and three wins. But it didn’t stop there—her album dominated the Alt. Country Specialty Charts for four weeks in a row, and earned an Album of the Year nod from Saving Country Musicalongside Sierra Ferrell, Red Clay Strays, and Billy Strings. Her singles "Aquamarine" and “Cowboy Kind of Girl”
claimed the coveted Song of the Year title at the 2024 and 2025 San Diego Music Awards consecutively, beating high-profile nominees like Jason Mraz and P.O.D. If that wasn’t enough, her breakout year keeps rolling with a field-leading four nominations for the 2025 San Diego Music Awards and two wins for Song of the Year and Best Country or Americana Album. That’s not just a sign of success—that’s a signal that Kimmi’s about to kick into high gear.

Kimmi isn’t just winning awards; she’s earning her stripes on the road the old-fashioned way. After over 120 shows nationally in 2024, she and her band, The Westside Twang, are doing what they do best—pouring their souls across the U.S.A. Guitarist Willis Farnsworth’s signature twangy tone, which somehow makes a Gretsch guitar emulate pedal steel, has not only built him a cult following but has also defined the band's live sound. With bassist Ben Neal and drummer Justin De La Vega in tow, the band delivers a live performance that hits right in the pocket.

If Americana music had a highlight reel for the past year, Kimmi would be in it. She was named one of Americanafest’s biggest musical takeaways, and her album Old School also made it to Whiskey Riff’s Top Debut Albums list and was mentioned on Billboard’s 8 Must-Hear New-Country songs. With four major nominations already locked in for 2025, building a buzz for a sophomore album on the way, and a reputation for constantly pushing boundaries, it’s clear: Kimmi Bitter is just getting started.”

Youth Brigade w/ Left Alone and Bullshit Detector

Good Medicine + Numbskull Productions Present: YOUTH BRIGADE with Left Alone and Bullshit Detector

7pm - All Ages - Tickets available now at the link below

Full bar and food menu will be available for purchase

“Youth Brigade is a seminal American punk rock band formed in 1980 in Los Angeles, California, by brothers Shawn, Mark, and Adam Stern. Emerging from the thriving Southern California punk scene, Youth Brigade quickly established themselves as influential figures known for their fast-paced music, socially conscious lyrics, and strong DIY ethic.

The Stern brothers initially became involved in the punk community by founding Better Youth Organization (BYO) in 1982, a collective and independent record label that aimed to unify the punk scene and promote youth empowerment. Their debut album, Sound & Fury (1983), became an underground classic, capturing the raw energy and ethos of the early 80s hardcore movement.

Youth Brigade is known not only for their music but also for their relentless touring. Their cross-country 1982 tour with Social Distortion was famously documented in the punk film Another State of Mind, which provided an unfiltered look at the realities of DIY touring and life as a punk band.

Despite several lineup changes and a brief hiatus in the mid-80s, Youth Brigade continued to record and perform throughout the decades. Albums like Happy Hour (1994) and To Sell the Truth (1996) showcased the band’s growth while retaining their punk roots. Their lyrics often tackle issues like social injustice, self-reliance, and the importance of community.

The Stern brothers’ impact extends beyond Youth Brigade through their work with BYO Records, which helped launch and support many other punk bands, contributing to the longevity of the punk movement in the U.S.

Today, Youth Brigade is widely respected as one of the foundational bands of the hardcore punk scene and continues to perform, staying true to their mission of promoting unity, independence, and youthful rebellion.”

Youth Brigade w/ Left Alone + Bullshit Detector

Good Medicine Presents + Numbskull Productions present: YOUTH BRIGADE with Left Alone and Bullshit Detector

7pm - All Ages - Tickets available now at the link below

Full bar + food menu will be available for purchase

David Lowrey w/ Megan Slankard

Good Medicine & Numbskull Productions Present: DAVID LOWREY with MEGAN SLANKARD live at Club Car Bar!

7:30pm - All Ages - Tickets available now at the link below

Full bar and food menu will be available for purchase.

“David Lowery is a highly accomplished songwriter, performer, producer, and advocate for artists’ rights based in Athens, GA. He began his career in the early 1980s while studying mathematics at the University of California Santa Cruz, where he founded the critically acclaimed ensemble Camper Van Beethoven and the associated record label, Pitch-a-Tent Records. With these two entities, he played a pivotal role in jump-starting the indie rock movement. Camper Van Beethoven released six albums before going on an extended hiatus in 1990.

Afterward, Lowery formed the ensemble Cracker in 1991, which produced five top-ten alternative/rock radio tracks and three platinum albums. During this time, he also produced and recorded albums for other artists such as The Counting Crows, Magnolia Electric Company, and Sparklehorse.

In 2004, Camper Van Beethoven reformed, and since then, Lowery has been recording and touring with both bands, often playing together on a double bill. In 2005, Lowery and his wife (a concert promoter of some note) started the Cracker/Camper Van Beethoven Campout festival at the iconic Pappy and Harriet’s Pioneertown Palace. The festival ran through 2019 when the venue changed ownership.

In 2019, Lowery began releasing a series of loosely autobiographical albums, including In The Shadow of the Bull (2019), Leaving Key Member Clause (2021), and Vending Machine (2023). These albums are currently only available in physical formats or via Bandcamp and are not available on streaming services. Originally intended as an experiment, the limited release strategy generated revenues that far exceeded what would be expected from a streaming release. Thus, Lowery has continued in this manner, as apparently in the streaming age, less is more.

Lowery is currently touring in support of these three albums.”

KIMMI BITTER

Good Medicine Presents: KIMMI BITTER live at Club Car Bar!

8pm - All Ages - $5 Cover

Full bar + food menu will be available for purchase.

“Imagine the sun-soaked charm of Palm Springs circa ‘62 mixed with a dash of California coastal weirdness in a mod-inspired dreamscape.

Country Specialty Charts for four weeks in a row, and earned an Album of the Year nod from Saving Country Music alongside Sierra Ferrell, Red Clay Strays, and Billy Strings.

Good Medicine Presents: THE LOWTIMERS with KATIE CHAPPELL live at Club Car Bar!

7:30pm - All Ages - $10 Cover

Full bar and food menu will be available for purchase

“Evolution may leave a lot on the cutting room floor, but it always preserves what is essential—not just for survival, but for the self.

For nearly a decade, two dueling guitarists and songwriters, Austin Smith and Mark Tegio, built the backbone of their namesake outfit, honing their hard-worn Americana songwriting. Their music shaped by years of troubadouring up and down I-5, from San Diego to Seattle.

Over time, their sound evolved from its more folk roots, inspired by the likes of Doc & Merle Watson and their guitar interplay, as well as mining the lines left by Townes Van Zandt and Blaze Foley, trying to learn the lessons those broken heroes left behind. As Smith and Tegio split their time between Portland and Santa Cruz, a new crew of musicians entered the Central California mix, expanding their sound in ways the duo perhaps didn’t know they needed—until they knew they did.

Enter The Lowtimers. This new 5-piece band—Tegio (guitar and vocals), Smith (guitar, vocals and harmonica), Tim Kelso (drums), Andrew Dreher (bass and harmonies), and Payton Vermeesch (pedal steel)—remain rooted in soulful Americana, but they now lay it over a new sonic landscape, injecting fresh empathy and drive into songs that paint wise western portraits of lives and loves on the road to redemption, where the goal is less about prosperity and more about peace of mind.

We may remember the past, but we should never forget what the future may hold. To be open and honest with art, it’s evolve or creatively die. And often, evolution delivers an entirely new animal. Their debut album Cracks is set to be released on May 16th.

MATT PLESS

Good Medicine & Numbskull Productions Present: MATT PLESS live at Club Car Bar!

8pm - All Ages - Tickets available now at the link below

Full bar and food menu will be available for purchase.

“A long-standing favorite in the DIY and folk punk scenes, singer-songwriter Matt Pless has been making an impression on music fans since he was first noticed singing at Occupy Wall Street. More folk than punk, Pless is an outsider among outsiders…his wild hair and lyrical finesse call to mind Dylan at his peak. A fast-paced, energetic, live performer, he captivates audiences whether on stage in a solo/acoustic set or working with any number of band members. Matt Pless has independently released several albums, including 2022’s “Cheap Shots on the Rocks”, and has garnered a dedicated following across the US and beyond. His distinctive voice delivers songs addressing love, loss, and social observations with equal parts sincerity and irreverence. His music not only entertains but also provokes thought, encouraging the listener to reflect on the complexities of the modern world. With each new release, Matt Pless continues to evolve, offering a fresh perspective that stays with you long after the song has ended.”
