Kareeta

Numbskull Productions + Good Medicine Presents: KAREETA

7:30pm - All Ages - Tickets available now at the link below

Kareeta rose from the swamps and southern delta heat during the uncertain Spring of 2020. Emerging as a fully formed amalgamation of the music that shaped its core, the band assembled in California and recorded their debut LP in Oakland with producer and musician Greg Loiacono (Mother Hips, Green Leaf Rustlers) at the controls. The music is an all-night drive pushing you deeper into the dial with broken characters and stories of red sky redemption silhouetting every ache.

Kareeta's second album was recorded at Spacecamp, deep in the Northern California redwoods. Greg Loiacono returns as producer, with Dave Schools joining the band on bass, Jason Reed at the board, and acclaimed songwriter Jerry Joseph sitting in as a special guest on the title track. Kareeta continues to play some of the top clubs in the West.

"Kareeta’s sophomore record, Freeway Junkie Queen is an album that anyone that listens and enjoys Widespread Panic needs to check out not because it sounds just like WSP but it certainly shares similar sensibilities. In fact, Dave Schools plays bass on the album and Jerry Joseph has a guest spot on backing vocals as well. Beyond that, the overall sound of the record drips of the Dirty South in a way that belies the band’s California roots..."

Born and raised in Fresno, California Central Valley song slinger Jonathan Low-Fi writes original tunes of love, sorrow, struggle and grace. Writing through a lense of Folk and Americana, Low-Fi leans on his experience growing up watching trains pass by and wandering around The Sierra Nevadas.

https://jonathanlow-fi.bandcamp.com

Lone Quail writes songs about lost places, stray chases, and finding your covey. While traces of doo-wop, experimental pop, psychedelia, and even post-punk wend their way through the music, her core inspiration is shaped by iconic roots artists such as Townes Van Zandt, Emmylou Harris, Neil Young, Freddy Fender, and Vic Chesnutt.  She also draws heavily from the pioneers of the early alt-country scene--Cowboy Junkies, Freakwater, and Giant Sand--lending her songs a quiet edginess and subterranean power. LQ was born and raised in rural northern New Hampshire, made homes for herself all over the world, and now holes up in Santa Barbara, California.

“Berthold City is a hardcore band that truly goes from strength to strength with each release.

Calling Los Angeles their homebase, the straight edge unit was started by vocalist Andrew Kline in 2017, who is best known for his guitar work in Strife and World Be Free, as well as running WAR Records. Along with Andrew, guitarist Dennis MacDonald ((Internal Affairs) and bassist John Jenkins (Allegiance) have been the core members of the group over the course of one album, several EPs, and tours throughout the US, Europe, and Mexico.

As stated above, Berthold City get sicker with each subsequent record, and they're currently gearing up to drop their best work yet. Produced by Nick Jett (Terror, Piece By Piece), Where Did We Go Wrong? is a 12-track punch to the face teeming with anthemic choruses, dynamic arrangements, and plenty of fast parts to satisfy even the staunchest core critic.” -Carlos Ramirez, NoEcho.Net

Daniel Rodriguez

Good Medicine & Numbskull Productions Present: DANIEL RODRIGUEZ live at Club Car Bar!

7pm - All Ages - Tickets available now at the link below!

Full bar and food menu will be available for purchase.

Whether it was personal heartbreak or the seismic shift in his daily life when exiting his longtime band, Elephant Revival, Daniel Rodriguez’s latest album, Harboring Pearls, is a snapshot of a singer-songwriter simply trying to navigate the choppy waters of existence to the best of his ability.

“I preserved my own sanity. I preserved my own integrity,” Rodriguez says. “There’s something about not being comfortable, knowing my integrity and ethics, knowing my path and where I’m headed — I’m fueled by not choosing to be comfortable. Captured by producer David Baron at his Sun Mountain, situated atop a ridge amid the ancient Catskill Mountains of Woodstock, New York, Harboring Pearls was co-produced by Wesley Schultz, lead singer for indie-folk juggernaut The Lumineers.

“Now? It’s just me and the storm,” Rodriguez says. “All the chips are in on this one piece of art. Am I crazy? Do I trust myself? What I am doing? It’s this lingering feeling that I have no idea where it’s headed, but I need to go wherever it’s headed.” That internal, more so existential quest of self, of purpose and pursuit, lies at the core of Harboring Pearls. Numbers like of “El Dorado,” “Anything and Everything” and “Graduation” paint vivid indie-folk pictures of Rodriguez’s journey unfolding in real time.

“It’s about transcendence, and that’s been such a wild process,” Rodriguez says. “There’s been this pressure cooking with the songs. A lot of coal being compressing into diamonds.” And what resulted was this steadfast platform of trust and radiance offered by Schultz, one where Rodriguez felt comfortable standing on, the culmination of those sessions being this cultivation of truth and sacrifice the lies within each selection of Harboring Pearls.

“You’re on your own and these are your pearls,” Rodriguez says of this latest batch of tunes. “And you’ve been harboring them for so long. It’s time to pass them out.”

Regina Ferguson & Tristan Lake Leabu

Good Medicine Presents: REGINA FERGUSON w/ TRISTAN LAKE LEABU live at Club Car Bar

6pm - All Ages - Tickets available now at the link below!

Full bar and food menu will be available for purchase

"Regina Ferguson is no stranger to the stage. After performing extensively in the Southeast with various projects, Regina relocated to Los Angeles to immerse herself with industry talent, focus on her artistry and live on the golden coast. Through her expansive travels and time living in Topanga Canyon, Regina found inspiration for her debut album. Country Music People Magazine awarded her debut album, Fortune, a coveted 5-star review, stating “Very rarely do I hear a completely unknown artist and immediately know they’re deserving of mainstream attention, but Fortune plainly proves that Regina Ferguson deserves to be a name as well known in alt-country as Margo price or Sierra Ferrell.”

Fortune, released on 10.3.2023 was recorded in Los Angeles with producer Matt Linesch. Regina’s raw, powerful vocals are at the forefront of her sound but her ability to write music worthy of her all-star session players is a standout. Among others, she was joined by Griffin Goldsmith on drums (Dawes), Aaron Embry and Ben Peeler on piano/organ and steel guitars (Shelby Lynn/The Wallflowers) and guitarist Fernando Perdomo (Echo In the Canyon Band). Regina says she aims to make "timeless music in the most authentic way", which is why Fortune was tracked live, recorded all analog and released as a AAA vinyl.

Regina's sound is undeniably suited alongside her contemporaries in the Americana and alt-country music genres. LA Weekly writes “she magically blends rock and roll with western music to create a distinct and original sound.”

Since releasing her debut album Regina has opened for Lord Huron at the Wildlands Festival in Montana, opened for The Wallfowers at a sold out show in San Diego, headlined the Grand Ole Echo and performed at the Americana West Music Festival and Topanga Days festival. She headlined a sold out show at Aviator Nation Dreamland in Malibu and was selected as a showcasing artist at the 2024 Americanafest in Nashville. Regina's live show is dynamic, fronting her band, she lays down three chords and the truth, “always nestled in a bedrock of rollicking folk-rock sensibilities and smooth lead vocals.”(Wide Open Country)

On the heels of her debut album, you can catch Regina performing with her band in Southern California as she continues writing and planning tours."

“A long-standing favorite in the DIY and folk punk scenes, singer-songwriter Matt Pless has been making an impression on music fans since he was first noticed singing at Occupy Wall Street. More folk than punk, Pless is an outsider among outsiders…his wild hair and lyrical finesse call to mind Dylan at his peak. A fast-paced, energetic, live performer, he captivates audiences whether on stage in a solo/acoustic set or working with any number of band members. Matt Pless has independently released several albums, including 2022’s “Cheap Shots on the Rocks”, and has garnered a dedicated following across the US and beyond. His distinctive voice delivers songs addressing love, loss, and social observations with equal parts sincerity and irreverence. His music not only entertains but also provokes thought, encouraging the listener to reflect on the complexities of the modern world. With each new release, Matt Pless continues to evolve, offering a fresh perspective that stays with you long after the song has ended.”

Good Medicine Presents: THE LOWTIMERS with KATIE CHAPPELL live at Club Car Bar!

7:30pm - All Ages - $10 Cover

Full bar and food menu will be available for purchase

“Evolution may leave a lot on the cutting room floor, but it always preserves what is essential—not just for survival, but for the self.

For nearly a decade, two dueling guitarists and songwriters, Austin Smith and Mark Tegio, built the backbone of their namesake outfit, honing their hard-worn Americana songwriting. Their music shaped by years of troubadouring up and down I-5, from San Diego to Seattle.

Over time, their sound evolved from its more folk roots, inspired by the likes of Doc & Merle Watson and their guitar interplay, as well as mining the lines left by Townes Van Zandt and Blaze Foley, trying to learn the lessons those broken heroes left behind. As Smith and Tegio split their time between Portland and Santa Cruz, a new crew of musicians entered the Central California mix, expanding their sound in ways the duo perhaps didn’t know they needed—until they knew they did.

Enter The Lowtimers. This new 5-piece band—Tegio (guitar and vocals), Smith (guitar, vocals and harmonica), Tim Kelso (drums), Andrew Dreher (bass and harmonies), and Payton Vermeesch (pedal steel)—remain rooted in soulful Americana, but they now lay it over a new sonic landscape, injecting fresh empathy and drive into songs that paint wise western portraits of lives and loves on the road to redemption, where the goal is less about prosperity and more about peace of mind.

We may remember the past, but we should never forget what the future may hold. To be open and honest with art, it’s evolve or creatively die. And often, evolution delivers an entirely new animal. Their debut album Cracks is set to be released on May 16th.

Good Medicine & Numbskull Productions Present: DAVID LOWREY with MEGAN SLANKARD live at Club Car Bar!

7:30pm - All Ages - Tickets available now at the link below

Full bar and food menu will be available for purchase.

“David Lowery is a highly accomplished songwriter, performer, producer, and advocate for artists’ rights based in Athens, GA. He began his career in the early 1980s while studying mathematics at the University of California Santa Cruz, where he founded the critically acclaimed ensemble Camper Van Beethoven and the associated record label, Pitch-a-Tent Records. With these two entities, he played a pivotal role in jump-starting the indie rock movement. Camper Van Beethoven released six albums before going on an extended hiatus in 1990.

Afterward, Lowery formed the ensemble Cracker in 1991, which produced five top-ten alternative/rock radio tracks and three platinum albums. During this time, he also produced and recorded albums for other artists such as The Counting Crows, Magnolia Electric Company, and Sparklehorse.

In 2004, Camper Van Beethoven reformed, and since then, Lowery has been recording and touring with both bands, often playing together on a double bill. In 2005, Lowery and his wife (a concert promoter of some note) started the Cracker/Camper Van Beethoven Campout festival at the iconic Pappy and Harriet’s Pioneertown Palace. The festival ran through 2019 when the venue changed ownership.

In 2019, Lowery began releasing a series of loosely autobiographical albums, including In The Shadow of the Bull (2019), Leaving Key Member Clause (2021), and Vending Machine (2023). These albums are currently only available in physical formats or via Bandcamp and are not available on streaming services. Originally intended as an experiment, the limited release strategy generated revenues that far exceeded what would be expected from a streaming release. Thus, Lowery has continued in this manner, as apparently in the streaming age, less is more.

Lowery is currently touring in support of these three albums.”

Good Medicine Presents: Marty O’Reilly LIVE at Club Car Bar!

8pm - All Ages - Tickets available now at the link below

Explaining Marty O’Reilly’s music is like describing a dream. It feels familiar, but at the same time unchartered. His songs sound bluesy but not blues, folk but not folk, soulful but not soul. Marty’s voice is beautiful and unique, his lyrics stark yet lush over gritty electrified guitar, melding beautifully into genre-defying music within the vast definitions of Americana. One can hear an urgency and complexity in the songs, expressing something elemental and perhaps contradictory: love and anger, joy and pain, real and imagined.”

Marty O’Reilly crafts timeless music that’s raw, soulful, and deeply rooted in Americana. Inspired by legends like Woody Guthrie, Howlin’ Wolf, and Sister Rosetta Thorpe, his sound captivates and connects. Known for his cathartic live performances—ranging from soft and haunting to wild and electric—Marty’s songs delve into love, loss, and connection. Over years of relentless touring, he’s built a dedicated following, performing with artists like Shakey Graves and at festivals like Bottlerock. Honest and real, Marty’s music stays with you long after you hear it.”

Jake Xerxes Fussell

Good Medicine & Club Car Bar Present: JAKE XERXES FUSSELL

8:30pm - All Ages - Tickets available now at the link below

Jake Xerxes Fussell is a singer, guitarist, and composer based in Durham, NC. His intuitive creative process often draws from traditional music and archival field recordings - incorporating elements of songs from the past into new work. He is, according to Ann Powers of NPR, "maybe the leading interpreter of American folk music right now..."

Fussell’s most recent album When I’m Called was released to critical acclaim by Fat Possum Records in the summer of 2024. The album was produced by James Elkington and features Blake Mills (guitars), Ben Whiteley (bass), and Joe Westerlund (drums), along with additional vocals from Joan Shelley and Robin Holcomb. Fussell and Elkington also wrote and recorded the music for Rebuilding, a new feature film directed by Max Walker-Silverman that is set to premiere at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival.

“Fussell’s music often comes with complex citations; he is a folksinger in the truest sense, collecting ideas and melodies and lyrics from distant and disparate traditions, looking for the things that unite us in our humanity.” - The New Yorker

“(Fussell) is one of the great magpies of American song, collecting forgotten, tarnished gems with a folklorist’s zeal… his renditions aren’t so much cover versions as composites…” – The Guardian

“Four Day beard is an Indie / Alternative rock trio from San Luis Obispo County. Four Day Beard’s music is mellow, brooding and introspective with gritty textures that give way to accessible song structures, catchy melodies and lofty chorus sections. Robert Lindsey, formerly of the San Francisco-based alternative band Gratitude, Joined Four Day Beard on bass guitar, at the start of the 2023.

Four Day Beard’s second album, Somnium, with Vinyl, CD and Digital Distribution. Somnium is a follow up to their 2016 debut self-titled album. Somnium is a nocturnal dreamscape of overdriven swirling guitars juxtaposed with soft, sweet and sometimes smokey deep vocals. With a penchant for catchy hooks and melodies, Four Day Beard delivers these unlikely elements in a collection of surprisingly accessible tunes. “Somnium represents a new chapter for us in many ways. While it isn’t a complete departure from our last album, the sound has definitely evolved, covering new sonic territory. Our new lineup is solid and we’ve settled in nicely as a three piece.” – Joe Schwab”

“Seeded from the land of grassroots touring and fueled by junk food, gas-station pit stops, and tearing down trucker towns, here comes the sophomore album from Seattle rockers Smoker Dad. Hotdog Highway is a 10-track true rock ’n’ roll record that captures the home-baked humorous yet heartfelt essence of the six-piece band. Smoker Dad includes brothers Trevor Conway on vocals and guitar and Teagen Conway on lead guitar, with Chris King on keys and vocals, Derek Luther on bass, Adam Knowles on drums, and Chris Costalupes on pedal steel guitar. Most of the songs are about love or struggling with sobriety but they all stem from touring,” Trevor says. “It’s lonely on the road and the mind runs. Hotdog Highway is about trying to deal with that while still pulling through for the show every night. Smoker Dad is a big band and sometimes we’d be touring with seven or eight folks all in one van. We were so crammed in there, we would say ‘like hotdogs down the highway’ and it just became this continuous joke.”

Tom Coneely & Birds of Paradise

Good Medicine + Club Car Bar Present: TOM CONEELY & BIRDS OF PARADISE

7pm - All Ages - $5 Cover

Tom Conneely & Birds of Paradise are a San Francisco based band that released their first record “Cappuccino Springs” in the fall of 2022. The band followed up with the home-recorded “Sun Child” less than a year later, and has toured throughout the west coast, from Los Angeles to Portland to Boise and many places in between, including a recent performance at Offbeat Festival in Reno. The Birds are led in collaboration between guitarist and vocalist Tom Conneely and bassist Alois Cerbu, home-recording and engineering both “Sun Child” and their forthcoming record “New Kind Palace.”

“New Kind Palace” is Tom Conneely & Birds of Paradise’s second full length album, though in many ways, it might as well be the first. The release of the “Sun Child” EP in September 2023 marked a radical shift in both substance and form, as the desire for perfection and clarity was abandoned for muddled drum machines and lyrics that dealt with the painfully obvious facets of life. “New Kind Palace” builds on the foundations of “Sun Child” - drawing on its hissy intimacy while exceeding its through line, balancing tactile analog qualities with inventive electronic elements all while retaining an impressionistic lyrical focus against the trance-like qualities reminiscent of Arthur Russell and the lo-fi melodic guitars of The Cleaners of Venus.

After a false starts in ill-fitting studios, the ten songs of “New Kind Palace” were recorded in a variety of bedrooms and makeshift spaces that belay the music’s homespun qualities and intimacy. The recording and production process was entirely one of self-discovery, as handing off the various parts of the production process, from tracking to mixing and mastering, became untenable with retaining the honesty the work required. Mostly tracked to quarter inch tape, the music that constitutes “New Kind Palace” is a testament to self-discovery and trust in one’s self, while uncovering and facing head-on the simultaneous hysteria and transcendence of our inner worlds.

"New Kind Palace" by Tom Conneely & Birds of Paradise will be released by Kestrel Records on March 21, 2025.

A virtuoso singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Jeff's music resonates with a timeless purity, enriched by his innate ability to learn songs by ear, harmonize, and understand compositions with musical fluency.

With a lifelong devotion to music, Jeff has recently embarked on a journey of crafting his own original compositions, channeling influences from legendary figures like John Prine, Bob Dylan, and John Lennon. His guitar work, reminiscent of icons such as Eric Clapton, Peter Green, and Jerry Garcia, adds depth and dimension to his heartfelt performances.”

Full bar + food menu will be available for purchase

“With a decades-long commitment to his craft as a songwriter, Jason Eady has built a career on bringing his unique perspective to a variety of genres. Uninhibited by ties to one particular sound, Eady’s catalog showcases an affinity for telling authentic, forthright stories with his music, a quality that continues to bring new listeners to this veteran musician’s audience year after year. Born in his most recent album’s namesake state, Mississippi finds Eady inspired, motivated but not bound by the success of his past; instead, Mississippi is yet another manifestation of what Eady does best – channeling truth into songs and a refusal to be boxed in by his previous work. His newest album, however, is not a seismic shift that rebukes the past; rather, Mississippi brings to the forefront hints of deep South-style blues that has always had a place in his sound.”
